Some of the Friends’ ongoing and past projects:
- New Baby Books – A new book is purchased to honor each child born to a Randolph or Braintree family. Each book is identified with a bookplate with the baby’s name. A letter is sent to the family with a brochure about sharing books with children and informing them of the title of their child’s book. This program encourages parents to make reading and visits to the library an important part of their child’s life.
- Child Care Book Bags – Volunteers deliver library books to participating home day-care providers every two weeks. Originally a Success by Six initiative, this program has been active since 1990.
- Children’s Summer Reading Program
- The Book Shop – The Friends of Kimball Library operate a used book store in Randolph, Vt., called The Book Shop. The Shop offers gently used books of all genres; for children, young adults and adults. We also offer used DVDs and CDs. We have everything from the basic paperback novel to the most beautiful art and photography books. Although The Book Shop is currently without a home, book sales are held the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
